This Privacy Policy explains how Fresh Catch, an initiative of the Department of Animal & Fisheries Resources (DF&ARD), Government of Bihar, in partnership with the Bihar Infrastructure Fish Development Corporation (BIFDC), collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

1. Information We Collect

1.1. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account & Profile Information: Name, mobile number, email address, and delivery address.
  • Order Information: Items ordered, selected store, delivery/pickup preference, and order history.
  • Payment Information: Payment mode selected (UPI, card, net banking, cash on delivery/pickup). Fresh Catch does not store your full card or bank account details — these are processed through secure, RBI-compliant third-party payment gateways.
  • Grievance & Feedback Information: Details you submit when registering a complaint, query, or feedback, including through the Submit Grievance facility.
  • Identity Information (where applicable): If you interact with the Citizen Portal, Schemes, or Training sections of the Platform (separate from fish ordering), additional identity details such as Aadhaar/Voter ID may be collected as required for those specific government scheme processes, governed by applicable scheme rules.

1.2. Information Collected Automatically

  • Device & Usage Information: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and interaction patterns, collected to improve Platform performance and security.
  • Location Information: With your permission, your approximate location may be used to suggest the nearest Fresh Catch store ("Use My Location" feature). You may decline this and manually select a store instead.
  • Cookies: We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy, which you can manage through your browser or our cookie consent banner ("Only essentials" / "I agree").

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

  1. Process and fulfil your orders, including coordinating delivery or pickup from your selected store.
  2. Communicate with you regarding order status, delivery updates, and service-related notifications via SMS, email, or WhatsApp.
  3. Respond to and resolve grievances, queries, and feedback submitted through the Platform.
  4. Improve the Platform's functionality, product offerings, and store-level operations based on aggregated usage patterns.
  5. Comply with applicable legal, regulatory, audit, and government reporting requirements, given that Fresh Catch operates as a public sector initiative under DF&ARD.
  6. Prevent fraud, misuse, or unauthorized use of the Platform.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.

We may share your information with:

  1. Fresh Catch Kiosk Operators at your selected store, strictly to fulfil your order;
  2. Logistics/transport partners, where home delivery is involved, limited to the information necessary for delivery;
  3. Payment gateway providers, to process your transaction securely;
  4. BIFDC, the Directorate of Fisheries, and DF&ARD, for programme monitoring, ERP-based reporting, and grievance escalation as part of the integrated governance and oversight of the Fresh Catch initiative;
  5. Government authorities, where required under applicable law, regulation, audit, or a valid legal process.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your information is stored on secure servers as part of the centralized ERP system supporting the Fresh Catch and BAIP initiative, with role-based access control (RBAC), encryption in transit (HTTPS), and authentication safeguards.

While we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, no system can guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to keep your account credentials confidential and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

Your data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Policy, including order history, grievance records, and any statutory retention period applicable to government records.

5. Your Rights & Choices

  1. You may access, review, and update your profile information at any time through your account on the Platform.
  2. You may opt out of promotional SMS/email/WhatsApp communications, while continuing to receive essential transactional updates related to your orders.
  3. You may request correction of inaccurate personal information or raise concerns about how your data is handled by submitting a grievance through the Submit Grievance facility.
  4. You may manage cookie preferences through the cookie consent banner on the Platform or your browser settings.

6. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for use by individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from minors. Orders on behalf of a minor must be placed and managed by a parent or legal guardian.

7. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as payment gateways). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services, and we encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other operational reasons. The updated Policy will be posted on the Platform with a revised "Last Updated" date.

9. Grievances Related to Data Privacy

If you have concerns regarding how your personal information is handled, you may raise them through:

  • The Submit Grievance facility on the Platform
  • Your nearest Fresh Catch store
  • Office of the District Fisheries Officer (DFO)
  • Directorate of Fisheries, Department of Animal & Fisheries Resources, Government of Bihar, Vikas Bhawan, New Secretariat, Patna – 800015

Such concerns will be handled through the same structured Grievance Redressal Mechanism described in our Terms & Conditions, with appropriate escalation where required.
